Formerly known as the Rubicon Casino before its 7 million pound face-lift and expansion. Once a casino in need of a little TLC, it  has now burst open its doors to the party people of Wolverhampton with the glitz and glamour of any big city could boast. The Casino 36 owners applied for 1 of the small casino licences that were originally put forward in the 2005 gaming act. The title of “small casino licence” may be a little confusing to those not in the know as its not exactly small. Casino 36 Wolverhampton is 1 of only 2 small casino licences open in the UK. The Casino 36 Wolverhampton is allowed to have up to 80 slot machines on the gaming floor, most of the UK casinos (130 +) are only allowed 20 slot machines. Of course there is an exception to this for those casinos that hold a Large Licence. Over 2500 people visited the casino within 2 hours of opening

The extending of the casino has resulted in some estimated 100 new jobs for Wolverhampton with

Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for City Economy, said it would kick-start regeneration on the city centre’s Southside and prove a real asset.

Adrian Ballard, the casino’s owner, said working with the council has benefited the business.
He added: “Regeneration in Wolverhampton is steaming ahead and we are delighted to be playing a part in helping rejuvenate the city centre.” Source
